Over the weekend we went apple picking! We typically go later in the fall, but we wanted to make sure we got Honeycrisp apples this year (the BEST), so we had to go a little early. We went up on a Sunday morning that was overcast, and there was hardly anyone there! It was a pleasant surprise, since the orchard we go to is typically so crowded you have to wait in line to get a parking spot, let alone the apple cider donuts. We did purchase said donuts before we made our way into the orchard. Madeleine did great in the Solly baby wrap and enjoyed looking all around. We came home with plenty of apples, and now I am excited for fall!

A Baby Shower
This past weekend I hosted a baby shower for my sweet friend, due with her first baby in just 9 weeks! What a blessing this little baby is already, and I can't wait for him to arrive! Above are the few pictures that I took on Saturday. The shower was at 10, so we had brunch with the following:
Chicken Salad tarts
Crustless Zucchini Quiches
Caprese Salad Skewers
Blueberry & Granola Parfaits
White Chocolate Cranberry Scones
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
I picked up sweet potato cupcakes from one of my favorite bakeries in town and packaged them up as favors. We also had a mock mimosa bar, using sparkling juice instead of champagne so the mommy-to-be could partake as well :) We had a great time celebrating this precious little baby and I'm so thankful for the women that were able to come celebrate with us!

The Weekend
When your weekend begins and ends with food, you know it's a good weekend. All of the other activities sandwiched between were pretty swell, too. We started off Friday night with our anniversary dinner. I'd been dreaming of this dish at a little Cuban restaurant, so Caleb indulged me and we found ourselves looking out the window onto Main Street early Friday evening. The dinner: panko crusted chicken stuffed with goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and spinach over a bed of pecorino infused rice with lemon butter. YES exactly, that's why I'd been dreaming of it. Saturday we headed to DuPont State Forest to hike around and check out the waterfalls. It was a gorgeous day, the first weekend it hasn't been blistering hot, so we took advantage of it. Sunday found us in church and getting some chores and projects done at home afterwards. We ended the weekend with apple cake (recipe coming soon). I'm excited for cooler weather + more apple baking + our house guests for this coming weekend!
How was your weekend?

The Weekend
This past weekend was my birthday! We had planned to go to the beach, but the weather forecast was looking a little iffy, so we just stayed home. Caleb made me feel so special all weekend: he made me breakfast, went shopping with me, took me to dinner, let me relax at the pool all Sunday afternoon. It was such a fun weekend, even though we had to change our plans at the last second. I'm so thankful that I get to spend my life with Caleb who loves me so well!

The Weekend
This summer we've taken several weekends to visit our family, and we have loved doing so. We visited my sister and Caleb's sister in June, two weekends ago we visited my other sister (including my newest niece who was then just 2 days old!), and this past weekend we went to Virginia to see Caleb's entire family. In the past 10 days we actually ended up seeing all our family members, including our now NINE nieces + nephews! Some of the visits were super short (like after church), but still...we love our families and every minute we get to spend with them. The top picture is of my nephew, but we really spent this past weekend mostly with Caleb's family. We got to meet our newest niece on Caleb's side (she + her big sister are the ones in the above)! She is so cute and cuddly which I of course loved :) The guys worked on building a swing set for Caleb's parents, and the girls did a little shopping with an iced coffee pit stop...the norm. We were able to make it to church in Virginia to run into some of my family, and then we grabbed a quick lunch with my parents before hitting the road for a (rainy) ride home. Our weekends in Virginia are always jam-packed and so quick, but we're thankful for the time to be able to see family!

The Weekend
Aren't three-day weekends just the BEST? Since we were gone the past two weekends with our vacation at the beach, this was the first weekend that we've had at home that has felt like summertime. We soaked up every minute of it! Our weekend was full of everything I love about summertime: SUNSHINE, eating outside, laying by the pool, strawberry picking, tennis, driving our MG around town, planting things in the yard--it was perfect Having such a great weekend makes it even harder to go back to work, but only four days 'til we can do it again. What'd y'all do this weekend?

The Weekend
This past weekend we were in Baltimore for my aunt's wedding. We headed up to Virginia on Thursday night to break up the trip a little, and then went on to Maryland on Friday. We were able to spend Friday with my grandparents, which was wonderful. We don't get to see them that much, and we really treasure any time we get to spend with either of our grandparents. It was also fun to have all six of our nieces and nephews on my side all together! Saturday was the wedding and almost all of my mom's entire family was there. It was a great day being with family and celebrating with my aunt, and my grandparents were so thrilled to have so many family members all in one room, including all 13 great-grandchildren!

Last Weekend
Here it is Friday and I'm just getting around to posting about last weekend! This week Caleb and I have both been sick with colds + we've had a really busy week with work and life. Last weekend my parents came down to visit for the weekend, and my sister and her three kids also came up for a day. We had fun playing at the playground with the kids and also having adult conversation with my sister and parents. After my sister left on Saturday, we headed downtown with parents along with everyone else in town to enjoy the beautiful WARM weather! The park by the river was filled with picnics and people and it made me so excited for the arrival of spring. Sunday afternoon I even got a little touch of sunburn reading out on our back deck. Fast forward to the end of the week: we have frost on our cars, and we both have colds. BUT I'm holding onto last weekend as my hope for spring. Happy Friday!
