Throw Pillows

We still have quite a bit of decorating to do in our house, and the main reason it's taking us so long is because I am incredibly picky and indecisive when it comes to decorating. I get overwhelmed when making decisions about what style of furniture, what color of paint, what type of curtains, etc. I always find myself drawn to the little, easier things: the objets d'art, the accent pieces, and the throw pillows. Below is a round-up of some of my most recent throw pillow finds.

It's Looking Like Christmas

Christmas is in full swing at our house!  We've had so much fun being able to decorate our house for its first Christmas.  Christmas shopping has been happening pretty much 24/7 (don't know what I'd do without online shopping!) and I only have a few people left... pretty considering we're buying for 18 family members!  Buying presents for others and wrapping them is my favorite thing during Christmas so I am loving every minute of it:)  I'm hoping to get some Christmas cookies in the oven this weekend and finish up my wrapping.  Is your home all decorated for Christmas? How much shopping do have still have left?

Pretty Mantels

I haven't made too much progress as far as decorating our home, which means the mantel in our family room is still bare. I'm having a hard time deciding what I want to put on it, and how simple or decorated I want it to be.  Naturally I've turned to blogs and Pinterest for inspiration.  Here are a few pretty mantels that have caught my eye.

Photo Booth Collage

Does anyone else love taking pictures in photo booths?  It's seriously one of my favorite things to do.  My favorite part is when everyone on the inside of the black curtains gets to laughing because of how fun and silly the booth is, and then the pictures turn out even better!

I've slowly been in the process of decorating our home.  I love the wedding pictures we have up, but I don't want just wedding pictures everywhere.  I thought about doing a collage of framed pictures on the wall, but everyone has one of those and I wanted something different.  That's when I decided to gather some of these photo booth strips that I've been collecting for years and make them into a little mini-collage.  The hardest part was trying to figure out what color background I wanted.  I like the simplicity of the black and white, so I didn't want a colorful background, but any more black or white might be too much.  I settled with the grey and I think I like it how it is.  Obviously it will look much better hanging on the wall then sitting on the floor.  I'm scared of hammering so I'm waiting for Caleb to get home so he can hang it up for me.

How do you creatively display photos in your house?  Do you only like to hang up perfectly posed, smiling pictures?  Or do you also have some silly/slightly embarrassing pictures on display?

Tablescapes

I always love seeing beautifully decorated tables when I'm perusing through different blogs.  Today I decided to gather some of my favorites.  I love all of the bright colors, the flowers, the arrangement of everything.  Which is your favorite?

Color Swapping

I can tire of things quickly.  Especially decorations around the house.  Knowing this about myself, I chose solids for a lot of things - our dinnerware, bedding, table linens, etc.  Anything the eye can take in a lot of at once I prefer to have a solid color rather than a pattern.  For our bedroom I chose a grey duvet cover (grey has been my new favorite color for a few years now) with red accents.  This was so perfect for after we got married-the fall and through the winter.  But a few weeks ago I got tired of it. I wanted something brighter and more summer-y, but it's just not practical to buy new bedding. So I decided to store the red away until the fall and be on the look for new yellow pillows!  Over Easter weekend, my sister pointed out these amazing yellow pillows, without even knowing I was on the hunt!  Of course I snatched them up and I love the change.  So, here's my new easy tip for bedding:  choose a solid duvet cover or comforter that has different options for accents.  Then just buy new pillows and give your bedroom a new look!

Decorating with Egg Cups

Easter is just four days away, so I wanted to share a couple of ideas to decorate with egg cups.  Disclaimer:  I am not very creative; therefore, take these ideas more as suggestions that you can then build off and improve.

Stick some grass in your egg cups to make a spring-y display on your table.

Fill an egg cup with Easter candy and make it a place card holder.

Or use it to label foods on a buffet table.

Break an eggshell and put half of it in your egg cup.
Place a small votive or tea light inside the shell.
If you have white egg cups you may want to
dye the eggshell to give it some color.

What Easter/spring decorations are in your house?
