The S'mores Cupcake

When I was in high school I attended an info session for Johnson & Wales and heard that a graduate went on to be an official taste-tester at Ben & Jerry's.  Clearly the coolest job ever!  So I've kind of decided to be an unofficial taste-tester of the cupcakes in one of the cupcake shops downtown.  Cupcakes are super cute and the flavors usually sound delicious, but sometimes the actual taste is overrated.

First up:  the s'mores cupcake.  The cupcake was chocolate chip cake, which was nothing special.  It was a little dry and there were hardly any chocolate chips.  However, the marshmallow graham cracker icing was delicious!  The bites with both the chocolate ganache and the icing were definitely my favorite.  I was also pleasantly surprised that the piece of graham cracker on the top wasn't stale and soft.

I doubt I would get this cupcake again, but I would love to get my hands on the recipe for that marshmallow graham cracker icing!

What's your favorite kind of cupcake?  Happy Friday!

P.S. I did not end up attending Johnson & Wales.  And I also don't have a super-cool job that involves free ice cream.

  1. lol - i wish i could have that cool job too! ahhh, the dreams of our youth. my favorite cupcake is probably something that is yellow cake / chocolate frosting or chocolate cake / vanilla buttercream frosting. i like the opposite combination. but whatever people want to put on that - any topping at all - i'm always up for trying. and s'more sounds pretty good.

  2. Lol. Don't be too jealous, I'm pretty sure there's a correlation between people who work at and eat Ben&Jerrys and heart disease. :/

This cupcake looks pretty and tasty. I'm not a huge cupcake fan. My sweet tooth has definitely lost it's gumption these last couple years.

  19. What a brilliant idea - anything with chocolate & marshmallows is delish. I think you should definitely go for a gig in cupcake testing (beats ice cream, right?!) I love a chocolate & peanut butter combo!

  21. Oh, that looks so good! Isn't a dry cupcake so disappointing, though? I bet if you tried the recipe yourself, they'd come out much better. I'll let you know if I come across a worthwhile s'mores cupcake recipe.
