House Tour: Dining Room

Today I'm excited to share pictures of our dining room! We fell in love with this room when we first looked at the house because it was big enough for a larger dining room table. We love entertaining, so we wanted a space we could do so comfortably. We knew the dining room was going to need some work, and I am finally pleased with the way it's come together. Here are a few before + after pictures after the jump, if you're interested...

This was the dining room before...

...and here it is after!

We are so pleased with the transformation! Thankfully this was the only room in our house that had wallpaper. We left it like that for the first six months we were in the house, because we were busy settling in and painting other rooms. We then tackled the wallpaper over several months during the winter. The wallpaper was applied poorly, so we were ripping off chunks of dry wall with each strip of wallpaper. It was quite the job! One we got it all off, Caleb had to mud the walls and then sand them down. Then we could finally paint! We had to paint the ceiling, the crown molding, the chair rail, all the trim, plus the walls. Caleb did pretty much all of it, and my dad helped a little bit on a weekend he was in town. Once the painting was done, I could finally start decorating. Eventually I'd still like to get a china cabinet or a server, so I guess the room is technically still in progress. But for now I'm so happy with the way it's turned out, and I'm thankful we have a place to host friends and family!
